From the name Maria de Jesus Laranjeira Ralha, I chose MARIA LARANJEIRA as the name for my compositions, being its' more feminine side and more suitable to personalize the work I create - it is of the earth, full of the nature of textures and of life...

I graduated in Philosophy and followed through to become a teacher, lamenting only to not have the free time to dedicate myself to artistic work

It is a privilege to paint, photograph and write, having edited, in partnership with my sister, Ângela Gentil, two books of poetry - ' Poesia Elementar' and 'Natas do Céu'.

I really like to hold individual exhibitions, for these are the perfect form to manifest the subject. However I frequently participate in collective exhibitions, having found this format to be an excellent medium that is sympathetic to the work... My work has now been through 27 individual exhibitions and it has participated in 62 collective exhibitions.

When, in a distant day, I will be transformed from the education of Philosophy and Psychology, to become professional painter, and to enjoy the pleasure of the creation, until then....!
